Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is organizational design so important?

The economic, social, and geopolitical environment is changing rapidly. Markets are becoming more dynamic, strategy cycles are shortening, and the pace of change is increasing. A future-fit organization doesn't emerge by chance, but rather through conscious design. The right structures and mechanisms enable flexible adaptation, driving innovation, and remaining competitive in the long term.

  • Why is strategic workforce planning so important?

Companies are facing a twofold change: technological developments and new working environments require new skill profiles, while the shortage of skilled labor is intensifying competition for talent. Strategic workforce planning ensures that the right talent is available at the place at the right time and is developed further.

  • How can I find out if your approach is a good fit for my company?

Every company is unique—that’s why there is no one-size-fits-all solution. My approach is based on customized concepts that are tailored to your organization. In our initial consultation, we will clarify together where you stand, what challenges exist and whether my methodology offers the right solution for you.

  • What distinguishes my approach from traditional management consulting?

Many consulting approaches focus on short-term increases in efficiency or isolated measures. In contrast, I see organizations as holistic systems and develop sustainable solutions that combine strategy, organization, and HR. I do not work "from the outside", but together with your team.

  • How can existing structures be changed without jeopardizing ongoing operations?

Change does not mean changing everything at once. Careful planning and gradual implementation with clear priorities are crucial. Targeted measures and structured support ensure that ongoing operations remain stable while innovations are gradually introduced and sustainably embedded.

  • How do I ensure that changes have a lasting impact?

Sustainable transformation is not achieved through one-off measures, but through a structured, continuous process. The key lies in the active involvement of people, who are empowered to identify problems at an early stage and develop solutions independently. Through co-creation, targeted control mechanisms, and a culture of continuous learning, changes are anchored in the organization and remain effective over time.

  • What is the Viable System Model (VSM)?

The Viable System Model (VSM) is a scientifically based model for designing complex, adaptive organizations. It identifies the fundamental functions an organization needs to remain viable and adaptable in the long term — regardless of sector or company size.

The VSM can be thought as a blueprint for a viable, high-performing organization. It ensures that:

    1. Everything works well together - Clear structures define responsibilities and how different parts of the organization connect.

    2. Flexibility is built in - The organization can adapt quickly to new market conditions or challenges.

    3. The big picture remains in view - While individual areas work operationally, there is an overarching focus on the common.

    4. Problems are recognized early - Mechanisms are in place to detect issues before they become major problems.

    5. Communication flows effectively - Important information flows to the right places - at the right time and in the right amount.
